Prime Location + Accommodations

Bullet Tree Falls village, just 3 miles from the Cayo District's main hub and town of San Ignacio, is the last outpost before the great forests to the west, south, and north. Though mostly Spanish speaking, everyone also speaks English. Located just outside the village, Parrot Nest consists of two tree houses and seven garden cabins, some with private bathrooms and others sharing two bathhouses. Breakfast and dinner are served on the veranda of the main house. You’ll enjoy this truly relaxed environment surrounded by nature. There are two gentle dogs on premises that are very sweet. The village is just a few minutes' walk to get to the Bullet Tree Taxi stand, small restaurants, bakery and grocery stores, Parrot Nest is snuggled in its own jungle peninsula, but the village can sometimes be heard on weekends with their exuberant Belizean nightlife that calls out from across the river.

Included in this adventurous excursion are two destinations, as we enhance our Reiki practice, Xunantunich archeological site and the San Ignacio Farmers Market.

Xunantunich, “Maiden of the Rock/Stone Woman”, is a Classic Maya (200-900 CE) archaeological zone located in the western part of Belize along the border with Guatemala. It is situated on a high ridge overlooking the Mopan River. This strategic location allowed for the control of trade along this important river, and through the adjoining valley. Xunantunich is set within a tropical forest preserve with a compact core center. To enter the site the river needs to be crossed by means of a hand operated cable ferry.

Located on the banks of the Macal River, the market in San Ignacio is a truly unique opportunity to experience Belizean life. Farmers, traders, and vendors from all walks of Belizean life gather together to sell their wares. Don’t be surprised to hear a blend of German, English, Spanish, Creole and the Mayan tongue as everyone from Mennonite farmers to indigenous craftsmen use the San Ignacio Market to sell their delicious local fruits, vegetables, medicinal herbs, and handmade clothing. Just beyond the market lies the heart of San Ignacio town, filled with restaurants and shops. A trip to the market or a stroll in town is the perfect way to experience the local flavors of Belize.
